Feeding Ambition

I know it's been forever since I've update the blog. I meant to get to it over Christmas break, and that didn't work out. But a quarter of the way through second semester pre-medicine, and there's so much to be thankful for. Though most days it's hard to see the JOY in it all. Because ambition isn't something that you feed once and it then it grows into a huge reality overnight. It starts out as a small dream. It becomes a reality over years of hard work. It's feeding the ambitions of yourself and feeding the ambitions of others.

Broken Heal the Broken

I apologize in advance for how rambling this will sound, but it's heavy on my heart, and I want to share some thoughts and light on this subject.

Broken heal the broken.

Choosing Life, Love, and Joy

I wrote a blog post a few months ago titled, I Hope There are Days When...

I've been thinking a lot about this concept of choosing to live life to its' fullest, choosing to love Jesus and yourself on a daily basis, and honestly, purely, and gracefully choosing joy.

I Hope There Are Days When...

I hope there are days when....
you fall in love with being alive,
you feel loved in an incredibly, deeply, beautifully inspired way,

I hope there are days when...
you see yourself for more than just human being,
but see yourself as an eternal soul,

The Power of Focus

Keeping focused is sometimes hard. Things get in the way, and we lose sight of what's most important. We trip, we fall, we feel like failures and it's hard to get back up. It's a vicious life cycle of fall down, stay down for a while and then eventually getting back up.

But what we were so focused on the things of the future and on God, that we were able to bounce back quickly?

The Power of YOU

Let's start over, shall we? I haven't posted anything in months, and sadly I have killed this place. I'm hoping to change that. I have a three month series I want to implement about the influence you can and already do have on this world. Life is a blank canvas and your character is the paint that colors this pilgrim life we live.

"Unless" -- Making a Difference

Do you ever wonder if your words make a difference? Do ever think about if your novels will ever change a life? What about your art? Could your paintings ever change a life?

Art is a very important aspect of life. Everything around us is art. From the coffee you drink, to the canvas painting, to the literature you read in school. It's art. So don't you think that since this world is surrounded by this brilliant thing we call 'art', then it could have a huge impact on people's lives?

Reaching for Gold

These last few weeks you all have probably been watching the Olympics. You see tears, you see smiles, you see dreams coming true and dreams being crushed. However, those athletes never give up. They go until they are bending over, accepting the gold medal being placed around their neck, happy tears brimming in their eyes as the country's national anthem is played.

There are a lot of things you can you learn from these athletes.  The stress of what they do is high, the commitment even more. And sometimes I wonder if every one of us had their commitment for our dreams and for the things we love, if truly amazing and great things could happen. I believe so.

Chasing Passions, Part 2

Last blog post I gave a little bit of an introduction into chasing passions. Well, how does pursue such things and why should we?

I'm starting to learn that having passions is a good thing. I used to be afraid of having hobbies and passions and goals. I didn't want to fall in love with something and then have it fall through. When I learned to let down that barrier and let go of fear, then I started obsessing over art. All different kinds of art from writing, to trying my hand at sketching and hand lettering, to dance and even some forms of martial arts.

I don't have this down yet, and there are times where I still fear the things that I let myself get passionate about. But I realize the importance of having such passions. The importance of letting yourself dream. I'm not perfect and I'm still learning. But I hope to help someone see that passions are okay. That chasing your passions and having goals are some of the best things you can do in life.

Chasing Passions, Part 1

One of my all time favorite Doctor Who quotes is: "If you are so desperate to stay alive, then why don't you live a little?"

When you read the quote without context, it sounds super serious. But when you're watching the episode that that quote is in, you realize the Doctor was almost being sarcastic. Ten has a way of saying very serious things in a playful way. He's pretty tactful.

No Service -- Don't Give Up

In long story short, I got to go to a writing workshop this past week. I had this long internal battle about whether or not to go for like six months. My mind and body were like "You can't do this." But I watched past workshop videos and looked at pictures. I wanted to grow as a person and as a writer. So I decided to go. Then when I got there, I wanted to go home. The first couple days were interesting. I had never experienced such a tight knit group of like-minded (but still very unique) individuals. To be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed and just wanted to stay in my room. But I got out a little more. I met a few wonderful people and I loved the speakers and critique groups.

But instead of writing about writing, or writing about the workshop, I'm going to spew something else I learned there with you guys that has something to do with life and not just with writing.

Stumble. Fall. Break. Heal.

I had a post on social media planned for today (why it's good. Glares to all you people that think it's bad.) But then I couldn't find a picture I liked for it, so I'm waiting on that. Maybe Monday. Today I decided to give you another one of those attempted encouragement posts.
